This book teaches you how addictive social media is and how it harms your mental health. For example, did you know that TikTok found that,“people who used TikTok a lot each day often felt more anxious.” Not only can increased screen time make you lonelier, it can also cause you to miss out on a lot of fun!
If you are convinced that you want to decrease your screen time, this book will give you lots of great strategies. Consider a basic phone over a smartphone. Spend more time with your friends in person or have a voice video call with your friends. You can also let your friends know, you want to text, not communicate through social media.
Thanks to our parent council for bringing this book to our attention.

If you have ever wondered why your phone is filled with cat videos, math problems, or articles about Taylor Swift, this book is for you! It explains your information bubble-the information that shows up in your internet feed. It will help you to understand algorithms and why they exist, and how you ended up in your bubble. This book also helps you understand the benefits of algorithms, but also why you might want to 'burst out of your bubble'.
This book is accessible to students, but also has important information for everyone to read!

I love books that not only make the students laugh, but make me laugh too! Don't Trust Fish is one of those books.
This book starts on a serious note, providing information about reptiles and birds, but quickly begins an absurd journey about fish planning for our doom. For example, it questions what are fish learning in schools and a reminder that they are already in our homes, watching us.
This is a wonder read-aloud with the repetition of the refrain, "Don't Trust Fish." The book surprises us with a little learning, (student will build new vocabulary, such as bioluminescence) and a lot of laughter.
